Superintendent's Message

Superintendent's Message

Hello and welcome to the Bridgeport Exempted Village School District website.  On behalf of the school board, administration, faculty, staff, and students, I want to thank you for entrusting us with your children. Our district has the pleasure of serving over 785 preschool through 12th grade students in Belmont County. Here at the Bridgeport School District, we focus on ways to provide our students with the very best.  All student’s grades K-2 have access to iPads while all students in grades 3-12 are given a school issued iPad at the beginning of each school year to use throughout the year.  While we strive to stay at the forefront of technological advances in education, our focus remains on quality teaching and relationship focused instruction. From the moment you step into our school building, you will sense a loving learning environment that is welcoming to all students.

This summer, the district was awarded a grant through the Appalachian Community Innovation Centers Grant Project through the OFCC in the amount of $13,834,879 to plan for a school addition that will focus on education, workforce and health monitoring.  This project will connect the students of Bridgeport and the community to opportunities to advance their education, training, health care and wellness.  We are also continuing to expand our College Credit Plus (CCP) Coursework onsite where our students will now have the opportunity to earn 34 semester hours without leaving Bridgeport.  Our goal is to continue to advance and expand this initiative at a cost savings to students and families as well as preparing our students for college coursework before graduation.

For the 2024-2025 school year, students grades PS-6 will receive free athletic passes and students grades 7-12 will also receive free athletic passes if they sign up to be a member of our Staying Clean Club.  Students may sign up for the Staying Clean Club at Bulldog Pride Night or during their lunch period during the first week of school.  Finally, you will see a new interactive board when entering the high school for athletic and extracurricular events.  This funding was secured through donations from Ascent Energy and the BEAF Foundation.

It is my honor to have the opportunity to work alongside great board members, administrators, teachers, classified staff, parents and community members.  Bridgeport truly focuses on the “power of the team” as we work together to do “what’s best for the students”.

Thank you, let’s make this 2024-2025 school year great and as always, Go Dogs!
